Speedy platforming, arguably better music than Super Mario and no blatant furry horseshit to muddy up what little plot line the game actually had. It was fucking awesome! I loved that shit. I played Sonic 1 and 2 back on Sega over at a friends house every day until I beat it and it was awesome. I'm still completely mystified as to what happened to the Sonic series.
